Frailty in Relation to Cognition in Community‐Dwelling Older Adults: Validating the Electronic Frailty Index based on the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (eFI‐CGA) in Primary Care

چکیده
Background Frailty can be screened using the Clinical Scale (CFS) and quantified a Index (FI) based on deficit accumulation. Higher degrees of frailty have been associated with greater risks adverse outcomes, including dementia. Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA, allows development individualized care plans for older adults’) has used to derive an FI-CGA. To promote effective assessment outside specialized geriatric services, we developed are validating electronic CGA automated FI-CGA (eFI-CGA). The goal is early detection management in home-living adults. Here, examined characteristics robustness eFI-CGA assessed by primary-care physicians investigated relationship between cognition. Method Data were collected as part collaborative effort Fraser Health Nova Scotia validate eFI-CGA. Baseline assessments conducted at primary clinics software tools created following standard procedures. Dementia diagnoses no cognitive impairment (NCI), mild (MCI), dementia made DSM-IV criteria. For testing, multiple interactions generated, excluding measures. analyzed employing regression descriptive statistics. Result sample (n = 137; age 79.2±7.6 years, women 67.9%; CFS 3.7±1.3) contained 82.5% NCI 17.5% MCI/dementia cases. Participants slightly older, less educated, more likely live alone take 7+ medications, compared those NCI. Sores various integrations highly correlated. These showed consistent distributions, relationships, maximum values <0.70. group lowest mean scores consistently across iterations. Close correlations (p<0.001) mini-cog (p<0.010) observed. Conclusion widely reported FI. A clear association cognition was found, even when measurements excluded from Ongoing work will test generalizability these findings, larger size follow-up well examine how data geriatrician assessments.

The SHARE Frailty Instrument for primary care predicts mortality similarly to a frailty index based on comprehensive geriatric assessment
Aim—frailty is an emerging concept in primary care, which potentially can provide healthcare commissioners with a clinical focus for targeting resources at an ageing population. However, primary care practitioners need valid instruments that are easy to use. With that purpose in mind, we created a Frailty Instrument (FIt) for primary care based on the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in ...
متن کاملFrailty assessment in the cardiovascular care of older adults.
Due to the aging and increasingly complex nature of our patients, frailty has become a high-priority theme in cardiovascular medicine. Despite the recognition of frailty as a pivotal element in the evaluation of older adults with cardiovascular disease (CVD), there has yet to be a road map to facilitate its adoption in routine clinical practice. Thus, we sought to synthesize the existing body o...

متن کاملThe risk of adverse outcomes in hospitalized older patients in relation to a frailty index based on a comprehensive geriatric assessment.
BACKGROUND prognostication for frail older adults is complex, especially when they become seriously ill. OBJECTIVES to test the measurement properties, especially the predictive validity, of a frailty index based on a comprehensive geriatric assessment (FI-CGA) in an acute care setting in relation to the risk of death, length of stay and discharge destination. DESIGN AND SETTING prospective...
متن کاملEffect of lifestyle education based on Pender model on frailty outcomes in community-dwelling older adults
Background: Frailty is a complex syndrome in which the reduction of physiological reserves in various organs increases vulnerability to stressors and negative health outcomes in the elderly. Considering that no specific intervention based on Pender lifestyle education has been performed to reduce the outcomes of this syndrome, the present study aims to determine the Effect of lifestyle educatio...
